The aim of The Will Mackaness Trust was created to give as many young people the opportunity to experience the thrill of water activities and give financial support to those who have shown a particular skill in water activities to enable them to progress further.

Based at the National Sailing Academy in Weymouth, Dorset  The Will Mackaness Trust has trained 100s of young people to swim and windsurf or sail since it was established in 2008.

The training courses are run in conjunction with the Official Test Centre and Andrew Simpson Sailing Centre.  The youngsters can start to earn RYA certificates in windsurfing or sailing building confidence and starting them on what can be a lifelong love of water sports.

Will Mackaness was an avid sportsman who was passionate about water sports who passed away in 2008 as a result of a very aggressive brain tumour.
